About The Classes
There are two types of classes: Aluminum Sword Casting (All Ages, 5 hours), and Bronze Sword Casting (Advanced, 10 hours).
In both classes you’ll begin by learning about the evolution of human tool making skills that led to Bronze Age culture. After hearing the stories of several swords and their roles in history, you’ll choose a wood blank from a variety of sword patterns. Next, get your hands dirty making a sand cast of the original wooden sword. This is the most challenging part of class, and concludes with the “moment of truth”, when we open your casting box and see how carefully you worked! Finally, you’ll learn about the science of metallurgy and watch as we pour an exact copy of your sword in molten metal! At the end of class, several volunteers and I will grind your sword and leave it with a polished finish. The final step is to wrap the handle in leather, before you take home your own metal sword.
Aluminum Sword Casting
Kids and adults are welcome at our aluminum sword casting classes! Participants as young as 6 are welcome to participate, with the help of a parent. Don’t have any kids, but want a sword? No worries–it is common to have as many adults as kids take this class.
Fantastic experience from start to finish! The class is doable for all ages but still enjoyable for older folks. Greg interleaves educational snapshots of the history and art of sword-making into an engaging session that gets your hands dirty and leaves you with an amazing sword to take home! – Daniel Yun, Aluminum Class

Bronze Sword Casting
Our Bronze Sword Casting class is a bit more advanced, and recommended for older kids and adults. The price of each class is per sword cast, not per participant, so you’re welcome to bring a friend! Check out our calendar of events, and sign up for a class today!
My kids took the all-ages aluminum class and thoroughly enjoyed it. I did the nighttime adult bronze casting class. There’s nothing like the experience of producing your own little work of art in a medium you might never have otherwise considered. Greg is a very positive and patient teacher, there to inform and help troubleshoot while still giving plenty of leeway for students to experience the process. -David Pappas, Bronze Class

Host a Class
Want us to come cast molten metal swords with your group? No problem! And it is easier than you think—just select a date and find a location that has shade, bathroom access, and electricity. Then round up some friends and we’re on! We have held classes in backyards, parks, summer camps, schools, festivals, and even parking lots. There are two ways of paying for a custom class—select a date and location, and we’ll create a private event for you and your friends to buy tickets. Or the organizer can avoid individual ticketing fees by paying for the class in full.
Greg brought his magic to Houston for a class right in our front yard. It was simply amazing. The class was a full house (about 18 attendees). The kids ranged from 10 to 18 (not including the dads who jumped in and made swords too!). The kids all learned a great deal of history, got hands on experience with tools, and each walked away with a beautiful metal sword picked and designed by the individual. If you have a driveway (with shade), you are missing out if you don’t have the Sword Casting Guy come to your place. This would make fantastic team building events, learning opportunities, or just for an activity (as opposed to a thing). We highly recommend it. – Micha Lunt Hooper, Host a Class
Today we hosted a sword casting class at my house. I was impressed with Greg and Brian from beginning to end. They had amazing energy and passion for the craft, coupled with a wealth of knowledge. They were great at incorporating students of varying ages and skill levels and giving just enough information without it feeling overwhelmingly like “learning.” The class was informative, creative, and fun! – Emily New, Host a Class
